Did you know that the Jupiter-Mercury mass ratio is broader than the Mercury-Eris mass ratio? Still, Eris is not considered a planet by the IAU while Mercury and Jupiter are, even though Eris is the most massive planet beyond Neptune (or between Neptune and the hypothetical super-Earth, and both planets cannot influence Eris significantly, therefore Eris can be considered to have "cleared its orbit" by being the dominant object).
